Options to Keep The STAR at Your Fingertips Using Chrome

How do I access "The STAR" online?

Answer:

The new STAR web page is a valuable resource to keep you connected to everything that is happening at LCC. You do not have to wait until Thursday morning to connect to this web page. The following are 5 different settings you can use in Chrome to keep The STAR at your fingertips every day of the week.  Similar features are available in Firefox and Edge.

  1. Add The STAR as a favorite:

In Chrome, click on the star icon in the address row to add The STAR as a favorite.

  1. Pin The STAR tab:
  • Open your preferred web browser
  • Go to The STAR
  • Right click on the tab
  • Click “Pin”
  1. Open The STAR and other pages every time you start up your Chrome Brower.
  • Click on the “Customize and control Google Chrome” menu (the 3 dots).
  • Click “Settings”

  • From the Settings menu, click on “On startup”
  • Select “Open a specific page or set of pages” and click on “Use current pages”. This will list the current tabs you have open and will open them every time your restart your browser.

  1. Customize your Google page and add The STAR as a short-cut. This feature only works when you have a personal Google account.

  • Click on “Add shortcut”. If you do not have an “Add shortcut” option on this page, you may need unhide them. To unhide:
    •  Click on the pencil icon (edit) on the bottom right corner of your Google page.  You can add shortcuts under the Google search bar for pages that you access often.
    • The “Customize this page” will pop-up. Click on “Shortcuts” and toggle the “Hide shortcuts” off. This image is an example when it is turned off.

  • Type a “Name” for your shortcut and paste the shortcut link in the “URL” space and click “Done”.

  • This will add The STAR as a shortcut to your personal Google home page and will display on any device where you are signed into your Google account.
