Concourse Access - Employee FAQ

Question:

What are the ways to access Concourse?

Answer:

Why can't my students see everything on my syllabus?

Since updating the public view settings in Concourse, the most common reason students can’t see everything on an instructor’s syllabus is because the instructor has chosen to cross-list their D2L sites, and as a consequence, has only prepared one syllabus in Concourse for all of their sections.   The best way to avoid this is to create a syllabus for one of the cross-listed sections, then import all of the information into the other syllabi.   Information regarding importing syllabus information in Concourse is located in the Concourse Reference Guide attached to this article.

Why do I have to wait until the day D2L course shells are available to edit my Concourse syllabus?

This date was selected based on the academic and operational tasks performed by each division in order to create courses and sections for the upcoming semester.  As of right now, section syllabi for all upcoming semesters are set to be available in Concourse on the day that the D2L course sites are available.  Instructors can still plan for their courses, including creating the information for their section syllabi, prior to the day that Concourse and D2L are ready to access for the upcoming semester.  Faculty can then copy and paste the information into their section syllabus in Concourse on the date the syllabi are available.

I tried to access Concourse through myLCC and log in with my username and password, but I'm getting a message that says I don't have access.  How can I get access to Concourse?

Faculty who have not taught or taken a class since Spring 2014 may not have access to log in to Concourse until one of these conditions are true.  Unless you need to make changes to a syllabus or access a syllabus for a class you’re taking, it isn’t necessary for you to be logged in to Concourse.

I want another faculty member to be able to edit my syllabus.  Who do I need to contact about this?

If you want another faculty member to have access to edit your syllabus, you will need to discuss with this your department office.  They can submit a request on your behalf to the LCC Help Desk.  The LCC Help Desk will not be able to add instructors to courses for which they are not assigned without written authorization from your department.

I just registered for a course/was assigned to teach a course in Banner.  How come I can’t see the syllabus in Concourse?

Faculty will not be able to access their section syllabi for the upcoming term until the first day that the D2L course shells are available.  Students will not have access to their syllabi through D2L until the first day of classes.  Any changes made after these times, including adding or dropping courses, or being assigned to teach a course, occur on a nightly basis.  This means you should be able to see your Concourse syllabus within 24 hours.  If this does not occur, you should contact the LCC Help Desk.

I work as support staff in my division.  I see that other support staff have access to (can log in to) Concourse, but I do not.  Why is this?

There are only a few individuals college-wide with access to log in to Concourse to make system updates, including course syllabus maintenance.  If you do not have log in credentials for Concourse and feel that you should have this access, you should consult your immediate supervisor.
